The Weekend Herald asked Galarneau to review the Web Award 2004 blog finalists. Tylerryan: "An incredibly personal and candid blog about a young gay guy figuring his life out. There are some great bits, like his prickly encounter with his boyfriend's homophobic father. It reads like a proper journal without being sanitised for public consumption."

Kevin's Guide to Nelson -

The gay and bi-sexual support and social group in Nelson, Spectrum, now has a web site. The site contains info on the gay scene in Nelson, local contacts etc., general info on Nelson, and extracts on all sorts of things from previous newsletters, including a section dealing with mens health issues. Older newsletters will be stored at nz.com as well a mirror eventually of the Spectrum pages.

Day without graphics -

The big news on the Internet will be those sites which participate in the day without graphics, for World Aids Day. Akiko International will be joining those sites by having special pages without graphics. Akiko International will change its front page nz.com from 1st December NZST and 1st December EST.

nz.soc.queer newsgroup to be formed -

The proposal for the establishment of nz.soc.queer in the nz hierarchy passed with votes 53:2. This group can now be established and it is expected that this will occur in the forthcoming week.

Homophobia on soc.culture.new-zealand -

This week it was a reminder that homphobia is alive and well in New Zealand. In response to a simple query from a gay man moving to New Zealand some extremely homphobic postings occured in the soc.culture.new-zealand newsgroup. The majority of the homphobic postings were from lincoln university accounts. However there was strong support against these posts by a wide cross section of internet users in New Zealand.
