Devotion - 11-Feb-1996
This years Devotion parade not only attracted 1,000 gays and lesbians but also a small number of 'Christian' protestors. A group of 30 protestors preceded the parade with a loud speaker asking where all the real men were. Others distributed pamphlets claiming AIDS would not affect the general population if homosexual behaviour was restrained.
A minor incident occurred when spectators asked egg and fruit throwing males to stop were attacked.
The parade was welcomed by Wellington Mayor Mark Blumsky at the post-parade rally.
The Devotion party at Wellington's Waterfront Event Centre was attended by more than 3000 people.
