Police seeking help from gay community over murder - 17-Dec-2007
The owner of a gay men's bar in Auckland says an elderly man bashed to death in his home earlier this month was a frequent visitor who was openly gay.

69-year-old Ronald James Brown died after a vicious attack in his Onehunga home earlier this month and there is speculation he was a victim of a gay-bashing.

29-year-old Hungarian tourist, Ferdinand Ambach, who police found upstairs in Mr Brown's flat, will appear in the Auckland District Court today charged with his murder.

A gay website - gaynz.com - says police are seeking help from the gay community.

Co-owner of Urge Bar, Paul Heard, says Mr Brown was a good man.
