Key spurned but Clark scores - 12-Dec-2008
New Prime Minister John Key has struck out in a survey by a big European dating website for gay men and women, gay-parship.co.uk, canvassing which world leader they would most like to date.

However, former Labour leader Helen Clark proved popular among the ladies.

Mr Key, who answered a joke question during the election campaign with "Who would I go gay for? ... Brad Pitt", was ignored by the participants.

Instead US President-elect Barack Obama topped the blokes' list with 52 per cent of the votes, followed by Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Zapatero with 19 per cent and French President Nicolas Sarkozy with 12 per cent, the Australian newspaper reported.

Lesbians voted for Irish President Mary McAleese (25 per cent), followed by Mr Key's predecessor as PM, Helen Clark (22 per cent), and Chilean President Michelle Bachelet (18 per cent).

While Mr Key may not lie awake worrying about not making the list, even dour British PM Gordon Brown got 4 per cent of the blokes' vote.
