MIKA and the Plastic Maori to perform at Out Takes -

MIKA and the Plastic Maori will be part of the dazzling lineup for the opening night celebrations of the Out Takes 2005 Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, tonight, 7:00pm at the St. James Theatre, Queen Street, Auckland.
This is MIKA’s first queer event opening for three years. “I’m delighted to have been invited to perform at the biggest and brightest event in New Zealand’s queer social calendar. Out Takes has been going from strength to strength over the years. I feel as plastic as Tapuware and as Maori as Titiwhai, or simply I feel much pleasure in my return to the gay takataapui whanau!,” says MIKA.

Film-makers out of the closet -

The premiere of a New Zealand feature film will launch the 11th annual Out Takes Gay and Lesbian Film Festival tonight. 50 Ways of Saying Fabulous (Village Queen Street, 8.30pm, and the Paramount, Wellington, on Tuesday, 8.30pm), is likely to get mainstream theatrical release early next year. Kiwi director Stewart Main will attend both screenings.

A Topp Celebration at Out Takes 2005 Film Festival of International Diversity & Home -

The line-up for the 11th annual Out Takes 2005 Gay & Lesbian Film Festival is one of the most international in the whole history of Out Takes but also includes more New Zealand made films than ever before. South Africa, Hong Kong, Canada, Germany, Israel, Greece, France, America, Russia, all feature in the mix alongside two New Zealand feature film premieres and nine New Zealand made short films.
"We're pulling out all stops with this year's festival," says Reel Queer Committee member Gavin Hamilton, "and we're delighted to be screening so many New Zealand films. It's rewarding to see our own queer stories on screen."

Reel Queer is delighted to present an extended eighth annual Out Takes gay and lesbian film festival in Christchurch. This year’s line-up of recent queer cinema from around the world is one of our best ever!
